BOWLS is a summer sport and very warm weather can cause concerns when playing in tournaments and club events.
Such was the case last Wednesday when the ladies at theNaracoorte Bowls Club played their championship fours, a knockout event.
At lunchtime and after the semi-finals were completed, tournament directorSue Bennettconsidered the conditions too hot to progress with the finaland playwas suspended to becontinued in much cooler conditions that evening.
In the semi-finals, Mary Kirkland, Di Brown, Sue Drogemuller and Jean BanningdefeatedFay Vogel, Chris Murphy, Coralie Allchurch and Maureen Proud byone shot.
Otherwinners were Chris Johnson, Sue Bennett, Heather Whitehead and Marg Craneover Jenny Measday’s side.
The 15-end final was a close and entertaining game for the spectators attending, with the club fours champions being Mary Kirkland, Di Brown, Sue Drogemuller and Jean Banning.
