OPTIMISM is at the forefront of trainer Jim Jarvis’s thoughts when he discusses lightly raced three-year-old filly Ultimate Dreamer.
The canny Coffs Harbour trainer has a good opinion of the daughter of Dreamscape.
“Personally I believe she is the shining light of the stable at the moment,” Jarvis said with conviction. “We’ve all got to dream and she’s our dream.
“I believe she’s got a lot of ability and while she’s not fully developed yet it’s all ahead of her.”
Ultimate Dreamer will be out to frank Jarvis’s opinion when she steps out for only her third career start in the Weddings At The Winning Post Function Centre F & M Benchmark 55 Hcp over 1007m at Tuesday’s Taree-Wingham TAB race meeting.
The filly made an auspicious debut and repaid her owners handsomely scoring in a 1007m Taree 2YO event back onApril 28and the succulent odds of $21.
Jarvis immediately spelled the filly and she resumed from a 199-day break after trialling well when run down right on the line behind Call Me Gus in a 1005m Class 1 handicap at Ballina on November 13.
“Tegan (Harrison) got off and said she was disappointed in her ride,” Jarvis revealed. “The filly got very tired over the last bit and was run down right on the line.
“It was a very hard run but she came home and ate up and has done everything right since. I’ve only given her pacework but she’s come through it well despite the hard run. I’m happy with her.”
Ultimate Dreamer is raced by a syndicate headed by Dorrigo based Gary Penfold who owns Ultimate Dreamer’s dam, Casino Gal, with his partner. Jarvis bought a 20 per cent share in her after she was broken in.
“She’s got a bit of Zabeel in her breeding,” Jarvis said after pouring through her bloodlines. “Down the track she might get over further but at the moment she’s got pace and we’ll use that while we can.”
In a bid to get some weight off the small filly’s frame – Ultimate Dreamer was allotted 59.5kg against older mares – Jarvis has booked 3kg claiming apprentice Jessica Brookes for the filly.
“Hopefully I’ve pulled the right rein,” Jarvis added. “She’s drawn barrier 10 but she should have enough pace to get across and lead if not sit third or fourth with cover.”
