IN 1965 whenWaratah resident Brian Dee was sworn in to be a Justice of the Peace, it was one of the proudest moments of his life.
However, iteclipsed this year when he received a commendation from the NSW attorney general for 50 years of service.
Two days after his 21stbirthday, Mr Deewas sworn in as a JP and hewould have done it earlier – but he had to be 21 to qualify.
He was flabbergasted when he was one of 130 JPs in NSW to receivea certificate from NSW Attorney General Gabrielle Upton.

His most memorable task was certifying paperwork for a womanwho was representing herself in court.
“She turned up with 50 papers to be certified then there were three copies of each,” Mr Dee said.
