Three bushwalkers have spent the night in Lamington National Park after becoming lost.Emergency services are confident of finding three bushwalkers who spent the night in a national park on the Gold Coast Hinterland.
The trio called for help about 6pm Sunday night after setting off into Lamington National Park near Binna Burra some time on Sunday morning, police said.
Queensland Ambulance Service Gold Coast senior operations supervisor Neil Stead said the group had been in contact with emergency services on Monday morning.
“At this present point in time they are walking out from their location as QAS officers with SES and QPS are walking in,” he said.
“The plan is that we’ll be meeting them halfway along the bush track. The information is that they’re going pretty good considering they’re spending the night in the scrub.”
Mr Stead said one of the walkers had suffered a head injury but it was “all looking pretty good for everybody”.
“This morning in communications with them they’ve reported they’re travelling pretty good,” he said.
“We have no indication any of them have any fractures or any other known injuries.
“The head injury we’re assuming is only a minor issue because he’s conscious, he’s alert, he’s been communicating quite well and able to walk.”
The search has resumed for three people missing in dense bushland in the Gold Coast hinterland.
The bushwalkers hadn’t been seen since they called for help after one ran into difficulty in the Lamington National Park, near Binna Burra and the New South Wales border, about 6pm Sunday.
Emergency services launched a search and rescue mission but called it off overnight.
Police, paramedics, park rangers and State Emergency Service volunteers resumed the search from first light Monday.
A police spokesman said the experienced walkers and were carrying food and water. He said the trio had been able to send a rough GPS location on Monday night before losing phone connection.
He said it appeared they had set off from somewhere near the O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat at Canungra on Sunday morning.
