Last week I had the great privilege of being elected president of the Stuart Town Advancement Association (STAA).
The STAA is Stuart Town’s main community group, and like I said it’s a great privilege and honour to be elected to this position.
I take over from Ben Penhall who has done a fantastic job during the past few years, particularly in co-ordinating the Stuart Town Ironbark Festival, a festival that has turned into one of the district’s major events.
The STAA executive for the coming year is, myself as president, Richard Eade as vice-president and Barbra Eade as secretary/treasurer.
The really good news for the association is that Ben Penhall has agreed to take on the new position of Ironbark Festival co-ordinator.
This is a great win for the STAA, with Ben no longer on the executive and no longer having to worry about the day-to-day running of the association, it frees him up to work on the Ironbark Festival and continue to build the event, an event that will grow and become even bigger than it is now.
Talking about great events, put a note in your calendar for Saturday December 12.
The hard-working Boehmes Hall committee is staging another Market Day, starting at 8.30am.
This day is the second to be staged and after the great success of the first market day, promises to be even bigger.
This morning is a great event not just for the locals, but for everyone in the district and beyond.
So like I said, note it in your calendar, take a trip out to Stuart Town, because you won’t be disappointed.
Until next week,
Councillor Marcus Hanney
