Queensland Ambulance ServiceGold Coast senior operations supervisor Neil Stead said there were no serious injuries.
“(On Sunday night) we were advised one of them had a head injury and this morning in communications with them they’ve reported they’re travelling pretty good,” he said.
“We have no indication any of them have any fractures or any other known injuries.
“The head injury, we’re assuming, is only a minor injury because he’s conscious, he’s alert, he’s been communicating quite well and able to walk.”
Lamington National Park head ranger Wil Buch said the hikers were in good spirits.
He said the men, who camped at Mt Razorback on Saturday, were well prepared with food and shelter for the unexpected extra night because they were carrying their camping gear.
“They’ve done a little bit of walking and they’re familiar with the area but they had a little bit of a medical situation on Sunday which slowed them down and was cause for some concern but that medical situation resolved itself overnight,” he said.
“We don’t yet know what the cause was but we believe it may have been heat stress –dehydration and heat stress.
“The message is in the heat consider where you’re going and maybe postpone walks in heat wave conditions.”
Temperatures reached the high 30s on Saturday.
