TweetFacebookWORK has started on the memorial clock in Fotheringham Park, on Victoria Street, Taree to replace the clock’s mechanisms. The clock will be digitally controlled by a global positioning system(GPS). If a blackout occurs the system will instantly set itself when electricity is restored. It would also automatically switch over to daylight savingtime.

The work cost$20,000, with $5000 from a NSW Veterans Affairs Grant, and the rest funded by the sub branch.

The restoration of the clock is a part of series of upgradesTaree RSL Sub-branch has completed in conjunction with Greater Taree City during the last two years.

Thisincludescleaning and restoration of the clock tower and surrounding plinth, work to reduce water damage to the base, placement of a new balustrade and repainting of existing balustrade and all metal work on the clock tower, improved safe access to the memorial plinth and the construction of a memorial walkway linking the clock memorial to the memorial columns as part of the Centenary of Anzac Commemoration. Recently a new fountain commemoratingthe Manning River Air Force Association was installed.
